Power Up Membership Campaign!

The Washington State PTA is running a Membership Challenge. If we can be one of the first 300 participating PTSAs to reach 15 new members between December 1, 2017 and January 31, 2018, we will be entered to win a cash prize!

Remember, PTSA membership is something that needs to be renewed EACH school year, so if you haven't joined yet, join now and help us reach our goal and earn money for our PTSA! Membership forms can be found in the main office or contact Tanya Scharpenberg for more information.

Mission Statement

Play is an important part of childhood development, and the playground at Mark Twain has reached the end of its useful life. We are seeking donations to update our current playground and add another, larger play structure at Mark Twain Elementary, and we need YOUR help. This new playground will not only better serve our current students; it is critical to accommodate our ever-growing community.

Importance of play

Mark Twain Elementary provides a healthy, safe environment in which students learn and thrive both academically and emotionally. The American Academy of Pediatrics recognizes the importance of play and its role in childhood development:

 · Play is important to healthy brain development

· Play allows children to create and explore a world they can master, conquering their fears.

· Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength.

· Play helps children develop new competencies that lead to enhanced confidence and the resiliency they will need to face future challenges.

 We need your help!

We need to raise $70,000 to construct a high quality playground that will serve our growing student population. Our goal is to complete fundraising by early spring 2018. This will allow us to install the new playground in time for the 2018-19 school year.
